"Give and it shall be given unto you!"
This week i have been thinking a lot about what it means to give. When i give my heart to God, i have to "let go" of the walls i try to put up, and vulnerably trust in the fullness of His love, to satisfy me completely. When i give God my time, i have to "let go" of my schedule and clear the craziness to really hear from Him. When I give God my thoughts, I have to "let go" of my thinking, and trust that His ways are higher than mine. When giving God my money and resourses, i have to "let go" of my security, and trust that He will provide. Everything I have was given to me by Him, and therefore He doesn't need anything that i could give Him, and yet we are called to give still! So, i have learned that the act of giving, is not to please God or anyone else, it is simply to teach us to let go.
This week God was challenging me to give my money and resources in need, to deny my schedule and give my time to His work, and to give my heart to Him and others more vulnerably. As i "let go" i realize that what i am really doing is grabbing Hold of something greater. His arm is strong and He will not let me fall as i "let go" of this world and hold on to His Kingdom. I want to be about my Father's business, i want to "let go", so that i can take hold, of all that God has stored up for His children.
Lord, help us to act now, help us to give more to you and your Kingdom! Help us to give until it hurts, help us to give until we are only dependent on you! Don't let us live comfortably while others are in real need. Help us to make a stand with how we give of ourselves to others and you. We live for you in this life and in the next. All we have been given is all your doing, and we want to be obedient to let go and give more for your purposes! We thank you for your abundant provision and mercy on us!
