Dear Friends and Family,
Sunday, I was at the park with my some of my family and a few friends. It was a great day spending time with those I love watching the excitement of the children searching for eggs and hitting the piƱata. I am writing you in a spirit of love, not fear! As most of you know, yesterday on Easter the earth shook below us. While the earth shook, for a split second, I thought about how it could be devastating.
I thought about how fragile life really is and how we are all just like a vapor passing in this life, here today and gone tomorrow. I often forget how I am hopelessly out of control of what happens on this earth, but I am thankful that Jesus has saved me, and I am certain that He holds my destiny in His hands. I know I will be with Him! I was thinking about the fact that most of us can say that same thing confidently. For those of us who have encountered the Lord and accepted His great Mercy, we know we will also be with Him for eternity. My heart was also saddened, because I know that there are still many who have no church to hear about Jesus or to grow in the knowledge of His word. I felt the urgency inside me rise up to the surface again of the importance of what the Lord has called me to be a part of at DCPI. What a blessing that I have been called to train leaders to plant churches so that many will hear and receive the great Mercy of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ!
I am also encouraged and would like to share, this past month I learned that some of the churches planted by leaders trained at DCPI are the very site where people are going for relief in Haiti after that earthquake. It was noted by Buddy Walker, one of our master trainers, that large organizations often cause rioting, and churches like those planted through DCPI are perfect for distributing food, water, and aid. Like me, you may have been thinking that you want your life to count for Christ. I know that I want to live all my days for Him and His Kingdom. My position at DCPI is waiting for me to come on full time. There is a lot of work to be done! I was also just blessed to be told that I will be going to Columbia in July from the 17-26, so please keep me and DCPI in your prayers as we prepare for that trip this summer. I am still in the beginning stages of being a missionary and need your help!!! I am in need of 17 people to give $25.00 a month to build a good foundation of beginning supporters. If the Lord moves in your heart would you prayerfully consider what your part may be in helping me to expand His kingdom for eternity? The world is in need of Christ our one true Savior! I pray that the Lord may encourage you and bless you as you find this email. Thank you for taking the time to read and pray for our nation as the world is going through birth pains.
With great love in Him,
Shauna Salerno
